My First Conch Car

You know you have arrived as a Key West artist when you've been asked to paint a friend's car. Our friends Marianne and Stu did just that and we had a great time with the process. After five long days of painting, Karen changed their 1992 Miata into a "Conch Cruiser" with flattened roosters, the "Cat man" conch houses, pelicans and more.

To prove the point, we entered the car in the 19th annual Schooner Wharf Bar's Conch Cruiser show in April. The car was awarded "Best in Show" and appeared on the front page of the Key West Citizen the next day.

Florida Keys Watercolor Society 2009

As a member of the Florida Keys Water Color Society, Karen entered the painting "Shrimping on the Katherine Lucille" into the annual show held March 6 thru April 6th in Marathon. She received the "Florida Watercolor Society Award" and a cool big green ribbon. Thank you to the society members and judges.
